I don’t seek out Dutch Indie music, but it finds me. Maybe the algorithm knows, maybe the Netherlands just cranks out bands in my sweet spot. It’s a bit of a running joke on the site, but these artists don’t play.

Here are the #dutchindie posts on turnandwork.com:

  • Femme Fugazi — Look At You

Not only does Femme Fugazi have an all-time great name, their 2024 EP Look At You is a garage-punk barnburner, and their live performances are incendiary.

  • Girls to the Front

Raw, vital, and fiercely inclusive: Girls to the Front brings together thirteen Dutch punk and punk-ish tracks, all fronted by FLINTA* artists.

  • Leela Rosa – Keep Applying Pressure!

Keep Applying Pressure! is a strong debut from Dutch pop artist Leela Rosa. Her melodic hooks and breakbeats evoke classic hip-hop infused R&B.

  • Hiqpy

Thanks to Abir Hamam’s dynamic vocals and the band’s compelling live performances, Hiqpy’s indie-rock profile was on the rise well before they released their first single.

  • FIEP — Fried Rice, Moon Bliss

Amsterdam’s FIEP makes energetic and charismatic power-pop, and their two latest EPs combine for a catchy and hooky debut record.

  • Mood Bored — Too Much?

Indie-pop trio Mood Bored’s excellent EP Too Much? serves up grunge-tinged hooks paired with late-night anxiety.

  • TAPE TOY — Launch the Rocket EP

Each of the five tracks on Launch the Rocket, the new EP from Amsterdam’s Tape Toy, is strong enough to be a lead single, or a standout track on a 90s alt-rock mixtape.

  • Loupe – Flaws of a Circle EP

Loupe’s serene, melodic indie pop feels ephemeral at first but drew me back again and again. Flaws of a Circle is warm, lovely and severely addictive

  • Pom – a craving / a great escape / more

POM put out a great album in 2023 and two fantastic songs this year. They describe their sound as ‘playful fuzzpop’, and I can’t get enough

  • Sediments – A EP

The first and only single from Sediments is an instant groovy classic. There’s more on the EP and (hopefully) even more to come.

  • Lena Hessels – Dance! / The Car / Heat

Lena Hessels creates catchy indie pop music. A couple of her songs are instant summer faves.

  • reverie - end of the world

Rêverie – End of the World / One Heart

Rêverie has released two great singles so far this year and teased two more. Hard to categorize, but easy to like
