Every Monday (or Tuesday if Monday’s a holiday), I highlight music from artists who’ve just landed on my radar—acts you need to hear, even if they haven’t made it to a full post here yet. It’s a glimpse at what might be main-page stuff in the future on Turn & Work.
Nadia Faye – Swallowing Spit
“Swallowing Spit” is more intense and heavier indie rock than I expected at first. It’s Faye’s second single, following “Gardening” from March. Can’t wait to hear more from her.
Offworld Narcotics – Siren Serpent
This is Offworld Narcotics’ second single (after “Mariana” from nearly a year ago). It’s paired with another song called “Chained (The Descent)”. Dark, moody and slightly sinister trip-hop.
Strawberry Kiss – So Long
This might be the only single from Spain’s Strawberry Kiss. It’s not new, but it’s new to me. They haven’t released anything since “So Long”, in early 2024. I hope there’s more to come — I just heard this and I can’t get enough of it.
Ahhmanda – Holy Mountain
Ahhmanda is from Los Angeles, and her first single is a gentle but richly textured bit of psychedelia, a kind of ideal windows-down, sunny weather car song that feels like it could only come from California.
Bebe and Oona – Alethea
Toronto’s Bebe and Oona Sun Cutter and their band have an unmistakable sound. They’ve released a few singles ahead of their debut record Keep a Secret. “Alethea” is a catchy indie-pop single with a totally unique vocal delivery.
