The Monday Music Post – May 26

New music from joanna ⋆ ☆, After London, Homade, Golden Toad, Lal Tuna and Fortitude Valley.

Every Monday I highlight music from artists who’ve just landed on my radar—acts you need to hear, even if they haven’t made it to a full post here yet. It’s a glimpse at what might be main-page stuff soon on Turn & Work.

joanna ⋆ ☆

Joanna Kuchta is an established DJ from Poland and she’s started releasing her own music. “disappear” is the latest, and i can’t wait to hear more.

After London – Alive

After London’s debut EP is due out July 4, and if “Alive” is an indicator, it’ll show up here for sure.

Homade – New Girl

I first saw NYC’s Homade in a Eugey Baby video a few months ago, but the single wasn’t released until last week. It’s vulgar, addictive, angry and great.

Golden Toad – Get Out

London’s Golden Toad is Al Brown, from Japanese Television, and “Get Out” is the third single under this stage name. The sound he’s settling on is really unique and I can’t wait to hear where he goes from here.

Lal Tuna – Television Forever

From Turkey, based in France, Lal Tuna’s new single has such a slow build I thought my headphones weren’t working at first. It’s grungy and gentle with a really dark turn at the end. The song’s origin story probably sheds some light on the white facepaint. Read that and the lyrics on the Bandcamp page

Fortitude Valley – Sunshine State

Serious 90s vibes from the new power-pop single from the UK’s Fortitude Valley. The band’s second album is due out August 1. They also share a member with blog fave Fast Blood.
